Bernie Slutsky, M.A. LICSW LLC, is a Relationship
Consultant, who specializes in couples therapy. He is certified as an emotionall
y focused couple’s therapist and supervisor.
Bernie is a member of the Minnesota Society of Clinical Social Workers. Bernie earned his M.A. in Human Development from St Mary’s College in Winona, MN. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Lehman College of the City University of N.Y. He has been employed as a clinical therapist at Park Nicollet Clinic, Fairview Clinics, Pyramid Counseling Center, and Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis. Bernie has over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist and relationship consultant. He has used his knowledge and skills as a couple’s therapist to start ongoing classes and groups for couples that have helped couples to reduce stress and conflict and to help them feel connected.
Bernie is a Relationship Consultant. He collaborates with couples on how to improve their connection and remove obstacles that get in the way of their being able to engage with each other and feel safe as a couple. His gift is to help couples see each other with clarity.
Bernie believes that when couples enter his office they do this out of strength. They believe that it is important to get their relationship back on track. Bernie believes that this is not a mental disorder. This process is about a couple who is fighting to reclaim their connection. Bernie sees this as how couples value their relationship and are willing to become vulnerable with each other so they are sure that they are important to their partner. This has no place for insurance companies or medical establishments to have their footprints on. He sees no reason to diagnose any of the partners.
As a relationship consultant, Bernie believes that entering a session for consultation on one’s relationship is a sign of health, not disorder.
That is why he does not bill insurance because they require a diagnosis. He does not want to label someone with a disorder he does not believe is appropriate that will stay on that person’s record. Health Savings Accounts can be used for payment as the credit/debit cards can be processed without a diagnosis for relationship consultant fees.
The following are workshops for professionals that Bernie has presented:
- Couples and Resiliency, using Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and Attachment Theory, at the Minnesota Marriage and Family Therapy Conference, October, 2010.
- Using Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and Attachment Theory, at the Minnesota Society of Clinical Social Workers, 2010.

My purpose is to help couples to safely build, repair, and secure their most intimate, important, and trusted relationship. You can turn to me to help you put the connection back together with your partner. What I want most is to bring you and your partner peace and harmony that you both deserve.
Couples have called me to get their relationships back on track.
Couples have sought me out when they have had nowhere else to go or nobody else to turn to.
When couples have seen me in counseling or have attended my classes, they have left feeling a lot more solid, safe, and secure in their relationship.
