Marriage counseling can help couples stop arguing, ease tension, and figure out how to spend quality time together. Married couples with children who have not had time for their relationship can get help focusing on the marriage. Other couples can improve the quality of their relationship.
In my practice, marriage therapy has helped many couples who have been at the edge of divorce, save their relationship. Other couples who have been together for a long time but have stopped getting along have learned to improve the communication with each other and have learned how to become more trusting with their spouse.
When couples see me for marriage counseling we establish confidentiality and a trusting and safe environment for couples so that we can talk about what is most important; and that is how to let go of the barriers that are in the way of having a healthy and happy relationship. We can then discuss what it is that each spouse needs so that they can feel secure and assured in their relationship.
Marriage counseling brings the focus on the couple and how the couple is interacting. The success of marriage counseling and couples counseling and the approach that I take with all couples which is observing the interactions of the couple is quite good. I encourage all married couples who are having some doubt with each other to get help and use marriage therapy to enable themselves to feel better with each other. It is definitely worth it.
For couples with time issues or who want a more in depth approach we can do the couples intensive counseling where we meet for longer blocks of time which then helps the relationship get unstuck quicker. The couple then can learn to have a more closer relationship, and feel more secure in a quicker manner.
I would be happy to talk with you more about this.
